Meet The Bloom Project Writers!
PhD ABD
Michelle is a PhD candidate in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She holds a masters in clinical mental health counseling from the same university, and a masters in journalism from Northwestern University.
She is nationally certified psychotherapist and a trait empathy researcher. Previously, Michelle was an investigative journalist in Chicago and Portland, Ore. She was one of four principal reporters who won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News.
Michelle, an enthusiastic collector of Michele Wortman's work, contributes to The Bloom Project social media, created The Bloom Project website and will conduct interviews and write essays for the forthcoming Bloom Project book.
Kristen holds a PhD in Communication and a graduate certificate in Women's and Gender Studies from the University of South Florida, Tampa. She is an assistant professor of communication studies at SUNY College at Oneonta. She also holds a masters in medical anthropology from the Universiteit van Amsterdam,
In her work, Kristen blends communication theories with the contemplative philosophies and practices of wisdom traditions, including meditation, yoga, and pranayama (conscious breathing), to cultivate a more present-moment focused, conscious approach to communication studies.
A longtime Michele Wortman collector and Bloom Project client, Kristen will conduct interviews and write essays for the forthcoming Bloom Project book.
